How to Bulk Check Indexability of Many URLs for Free

Check a whole list of URLs, or your sitemap, for noindex, robots.txt blocks and canonical problems in one run.

Checking one page's indexing signals is easy. Checking 200 after a redesign, a migration or a CMS change is not โ€” and that is exactly when mistakes such as a stray noindex tag slip in. The free SeoSpidie bulk indexability checker tests a whole list of URLs at once.

What the checker looks at

  • noindex โ€” in the meta robots tag or the X-Robots-Tag header.
  • robots.txt blocks โ€” whether a rule stops crawlers from reaching the URL.
  • Canonical mismatches โ€” whether the page's canonical points to itself or to a different URL.

Together these tell you whether each page can be indexed. Whether Google actually indexed it is shown in Search Console โ€” see how to check if a page is indexed.

Step 1: Add your URLs

Choose one of two ways:

  • Discover from a sitemap โ€” enter your sitemap address and the checker loads its URLs.
  • Paste URLs โ€” one per line, for example your most important pages or a list exported from Search Console.

Step 2: Run the check and read the results

Each URL gets a clear verdict. Pay attention to:

  • Important pages marked noindex โ€” the most damaging mistake, often left over from a staging site.
  • Pages blocked by robots.txt that should be crawlable.
  • Canonicals pointing elsewhere โ€” fine for duplicates, a problem for pages that should rank on their own.

Step 3: Fix and re-check

Run the checker again until every important page passes.

When to run a bulk check

A worked example: after a redesign

A company relaunched its website and organic traffic dropped by half within two weeks. A bulk check of the sitemap's 120 URLs found that 45 pages still carried a noindex tag from the staging site, and that the blog's canonical tags pointed to the old domain. Removing the tag in the SEO plugin, correcting the canonical setting and requesting indexing for the main pages brought traffic back over the following weeks.

A five-minute bulk check right after launch would have prevented the drop entirely.

What the results do not tell you

A page that passes every check can still not be indexed if its content is thin or duplicated. Use the checker to rule out technical blocks first, then look at content quality.

Frequently asked questions

Does the checker tell me if Google indexed my pages?

It checks whether pages can be indexed. Search Console tells you whether Google actually indexed them.

Can I check a competitor's pages?

Yes, the signals are public. It is a useful way to understand how other sites handle indexing.

How many URLs can I check?

Paste the list you need or load your sitemap. Large lists take a little longer.

Is the bulk indexability checker free?

Yes, with no sign-up.
